The first day of classes at Nowata Public Schools could be pushed back because of ongoing construction.
The district is proposing a revised start date of Wednesday, August 19th, pending approval from the Nowata Board of Education. Superintendent Dr. Mindy Englett says the additional time would allow construction crews and district employees to complete essential work and make sure school buildings are safe, secure and ready for students and staff.
District officials acknowledge the change could create an inconvenience for families and employees, but say safety remains their highest priority. The Board of Education will consider the revised calendar at an upcoming meeting. If approved, the complete school calendar will be posted and shared with families and staff.
