Independence will soon have new pickleball courts.

The plans for the proposed Oakes Pickleball Courts are included in the upcoming Phase Three of the Central Park Sports Complex through a Land and Water conservation Fund grant through the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Plans are underway to construct the four pickleball-dedicated courts near the existing dog park. The courts will be available for use by all levels of pickleball players.

No timeline has yet been given for construction.
