The Nowata Fire Department is promoting a longtime firefighter to assistant chief.

Fire Chief Brandon Jarvis presented Hewitt with the promotion and honored him for 28 years of service to the department and the citizens of Nowata. Jarvis says Hewitt has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and a commitment to serving the community throughout his career.

He says Hewitt’s experience and leadership have earned the respect of the firefighters he serves alongside and the citizens he has helped protect. Jarvis says he is confident Hewitt will continue leading by example and helping guide the department in his new role.
