A Wichita man is injured in a small plane crash in rural Cowley County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 76-year-old Melvin James received minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when the North Wing Maverick 2RT ultralight plane he was flying began to experience power loss to the engine. James attempted to land the plane and crashed in a field about 10 miles north of Winfield. James was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment for his injuries.
