Two people are arrested in Independence following separate weekend incidents.

Early Saturday morning, officers from the Independence Police Department responded to reports of a battery in progress at Riverside Park. Officers arrived at the oval around 2:30am and, after an investigation, arrested 20-year-old Kenai Castorena of Independence. Castorena was cited into municipal court and processed of charges of Domestic Battery.

Later, around 7:30 on Saturday evening, officers responded to the 100 block of South Peter Pan Road for a report of theft. 51-year-old Clark Dixon of Moline was taken into custody and faces charges of theft in the incident.
