New Patriotic Locomotive Unveiled in Cherryvale

A new, patriotic-themed locomotive engine will soon begin riding the rails of southeast Kansas.

The Pittsburg-based rail company Watco unveiled the new engine yesterday in Cherryvale. The red, white and blue unit features a large waving American flag centered on the locomotive, accented with white stars, and Watco’s Proud to Keep America Moving logo. The patriotic-themed locomotive will operate on the South Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad, honoring America’s 250th birthday. According to the company, the locomotive bears the number 250 to reflect the nation’s history. Members of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department were also on hand as part of yesterday's official unveiling.
