Live Healthy Montgomery County updates county commissioners on their work to prevent opioid abuse.
At this week’s commission meeting, Executive Director of Live Healthy Montgomery County Marci Roberts and Community Mobilizer for Youth Substance Prevention Emily Lewis appeared before the county commission to report on their work over the past year. Lewis says they’ve accomplished a lot of outreach in the community.
She added that the group is planning another townhall event for Cherryvale in September. Lewis went on to address the prevalence of opioid abuse. She says it’s an issue that can affect anyone.
The organization has been using opioid settlement funds provided through the City of Coffeyville. However, , Executive Director Marci Roberts told commissioners that those funds have been reduced. The group then requested $30,000 in funding from the county. Commissioners expressed their gratitude for the group’s work, but took no action on the request at this week’s meeting
In other business, representatives from Jarred, Gilmore & Phillips reported an unmodified opinion on the county's 2025 audit, while Independence Middle School Principal Michael McCambridge was appointed to the Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board to replace Carmen Chism.
