The United Methodist Church in Elgin holds its last worship service before closing its doors for good.

The small church located on North East Street held its final service yesterday morning. A Facebook post from the City of Elgin stated that the United Methodist Conference has offered the church building free of charge to the City. A decision on the matter is expected to take place at Wednesday’s City Council meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 at the Elgin Community Building.

The Elgin City Council invites residents to attend the meeting and provide input to the Council on the decision.
