A heat advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon through 8 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, heat index values between 100 and 108 are expected for southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri and portions of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

Remember to take frequent shade or A/C breaks, check on those susceptible to heat illness, care for outdoor pets and stay hydrated this week.
