A lightning strike causes minor damage to a home in eastern Wilson County.

According to the Wilson County Rural Fire Department, units responded just before midnight last night to a report of a house that had been struck by lightning. The lightning hit a satellite dish, sending electricity through the home's coaxial cable system and igniting a mattress. Crews extinguished the fire and checked the home for additional hot spots.

WCRFD says damage was minimal, and firefighters also assisted with removing smoke from the residence. No injuries were reported.
