Kansas Man Pleads Guilty to Hiding Kansas Boy's Body in Missouri

A Kansas man pleads guilty to abandonment of a corpse in connection to the December 2025 death of a 13-year-old Pleasanton boy.

47-year-old Damon Leonard entered his plea in Bates County, Missouri, on May 22nd. The charge stems from an incident that occurred in 2025 after 13-year-old Airen Andula went missing from his Pleasanton home on December 21. Leonard later told law enforcement that he knew where the boy was located and led deputies to discover his remains in a creek bed just across the state line.

The investigation into the case was turned over to the Kansas City, Kansas, police department who later confirmed that Leonard's residence was located near the missing boy's home and that several dogs were seized from the suspect's property.

An autopsy conducted by the Wyandotte County Coroner's Office later confirmed Andula had died from multiple dog bites.

Leonard is scheduled for sentencing in the case on Friday, May 29.
