The Kansas Highway Patrol releases the traffic statistics from the Memorial Day weekend.
During the reporting period that ran from 6pm on Friday through midnight on Sunday night, K-H-P troopers worked two fatal non-DUI related accidents resulting in a total of two deaths. The number of fatalities is considerably lower than 2025 when a total of seven people lost their lives on Kansas highways over the Memorial Day weekend. There were no reports of DUI related crashes in either year.
Over the course of the weekend, state troopers assisted 472 motorists and issued 786 speeding tickets as well as 112 seat belt citations. Both of those numbers are higher than a year ago. To see a full comparison of this year's statistics compared to previous years, follow this link.
