One person dies following a two-vehicle crash south of Cherryvale.

The accident happened around 3:30pm Friday afternoon at Highway 169 and County Road 4800. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says a Buick Enclave, driven by Hurshel Miller of Independence, was stopped at a stop sign before entering the highway, when it was struck by a northbound Ford Expedition driven by Dana Smith of Elmore, Oklahoma. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch.

Miller and his passenger, Sharon Miller, were airlifted with critical injuries. Authorities say Hurshel Miller later died from those injuries. Smith and one of three juveniles in her vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment.
