Area communities are kicking off the summer season this Memorial Day weekend, with several local swimming pools opening for the first time this year.

In Montgomery County two pools will open up today, Big Hill Splash in Coffeyville opens up at 1:00pm and the Independence Aquatic Center opens at 12:00pm. Tomorrow the City of Parsons and Neodesha will both open at 1:00pm. On Memorial Day, Sedan will open at 1:00pm.

As crowds return, pool and city staff are reminding visitors to follow posted safety rules, supervise children closely and stay hydrated during the warmer weather. More information on hours, admission, and special events can be found through individual city websites and social media pages.
