The Coffeyville Veteran's Memorial Park Association is gearing up to mark Memorial Day.
On Monday, volunteers are needed to help set up and take down flags in Fairview Cemetery. CVMP Events Coordinator Loran Osborne says there are volunteer opportunities in both the morning and evening to help with the Avenue of Flags.
Osborne says pizza will be served for those helping to take down and fold the flags at 4 p.m. In addition, the public is invited to attend the Memorial Day ceremony that starts at 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Patio, which will feature a motorcycle salute during the National Anthem, guest speakers and more. Those who attend in person should make sure to bring lawn chairs. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on The Mighty 690 starting at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Association Chairman Pete Olsen says events like this are important remember the sacrifices of those who defended our freedom.
The Coffeyville Veteran's Memorial Park Association is working to raise money for a new court of valor monument. To donate or volunteer this Monday, call 620-870-2810. More on the effort and contact information to volunteer is available HERE.
