During this week’s Wilson County Commission meeting, Road and Bridge Supervisor Kary Tatum announced that a low-water bridge will be reopening next week.

 

The bridge is located west of Chanute, on K-39 between Wichita Road and Yale Road. It was closed last month due to flooding, but Tatum says Wilson County plans to have it reopened by Tuesday.

 

The project was initially estimated to cost $20,000. However, Tatum explains that excluding labor, their cost on the bridge was less than $6,000.

 

In other business, Wilson County renewed a contract for a 911-call recording system for $2,986. The Commission also reapproved a $3,000 grant for school hygiene kits.
