Part of the street behind the Pete's gas station in Cherryvale will close next month for repairs.
At Monday's Cherryvale City Council meeting, a street closing application was approved for North Maple to the east of the gas station. Reid Hugo with RH Construction says that Pete's is doing some concrete work and would like to repair the street. The closure will only impact one homeowner and a detour sign will be in place. The street will be closed from from June 8th through 19th.
In other business, the Council approved the purchase of 88 water meters not to exceed $25,650 and approved an invoice from Midwest Engineering for just under $5,500 for the 6th Street water line project. Several public comments were made, related to boats in yards, storm water runoff and an inquiry into a potential harvest festival on September 12th. Fire Chief Joe Rexwinkle also announced $1,350 raised last Friday towards the fireworks fundraiser.
