During this week’s Caney City Council Meeting, several hearings were held regarding the condemnation of local properties.

 

In all, 12 properties were listed on the agenda for discussion. Seven of them either had individuals show up on their behalf or wrote in to the council and received a 30-day extension.

 

Of the five Caney properties without representation, the City voted to approve the condemnation, which triggers demolition within 30 days.

 

In other business, the City Council announced that an acre of land had been given to Caney in order to install a water booster pump.

 

They also continued deliberation on a new ordinance addressing water reconnection fees and after-hour reconnections. They tabled further discussion and potential action for their next meeting.
