The Montgomery County Commission is expected to appoint a new Director of Emergency Management at today’s regular meeting.
Commissioners are expected to tap the current District Fire Chief Michael Smith to fill the role in charge of carrying out emergency preparedness, response, and recovery for Montgomery County. The move comes after Rick Whitson announced his retirement from the position last week.
Also on today’s agenda is a report from Henry Schmidt with the Council on Aging and a budget discussion with the Director of Four County Mental Health Steve Denny. Commissioners will also consider a neighborhood revitalization request and hold an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.
Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the County’s website.
