A shift in the political landscape at the county level continues in Bourbon County.

Bourbon County commissioner Samuel Tran is facing a recall election after allegations surfaced suggesting that Tran violated Kansas law by failing to pass an appropriate budget in 2025. The recall petition against Tran claims, that action means the commissioner failed to perform his required duties as an elected official. The Bourbon County Attorney has confirmed that the recall is in order and can proceed. This comes after another recall effort has begun to recall County Clerk Susan Walker over a ballot printing error during the most recent election.
