E15 Tax Credit Bill Could Have Impacts on Kansas Corn

Last month, Governor Laura Kelly signed SB 82, a legislative tax package creating a five-cent-per-gallon income tax credit for fuel retailers selling E15 or higher ethanol blends.

Kansas Corn CEO Josh Roe says about one third of Kansas corn production goes into ethanol production.  Roe says most of the gas sold in Kansas is a E10 or 10% blend.

This incentive, aimed at boosting demand for Kansas-grown corn and sorghum, runs from 2026 through 2028 and is capped at $2.5 million annually.
