Kansas Tax Receipts for April Exceed Expectations

Tax receipts for the State of Kansas in April come in above estimates.

The total tax receipts last month came in at $1.4 billion. That number is 2.3% or about $31 million above estimates. Receipts were also 4% higher than April 2025. Individual income rose in April, driving the higher-than-projected numbers. Individual taxes were nearly $32 million or 4.1% above expectations while corporate tax receipts fell. Those receipts were $237 million or 1.3% below estimates and 25% less than a year ago.

“Total April tax collections returned as projected, though this month’s report indicates the continued softening of corporate income tax collections, significantly missing the mark,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “We must remain vigilant and continue to keep an eye on this to ensure Kansas has a solid fiscal foundation in the years ahead.”
