The Parsons Police Department responds to a reported threat made toward Parsons High School.
According to PPD, officers responded to the school around 1:30pm this afternoon, after a caller threatened to shoot up the high school. Authorities say similar threats were also reported at schools in Oswego and Fort Scott. The school was briefly placed on lockdown while officers secured the building and perimeter. Students were later allowed to move between classes but were instructed to remain inside the building as officers continued checking the campus.
Police say the State Fusion Center notified agencies that multiple threats were being reported across Kansas, and at this time there is no evidence the threat is credible.
