The Wilson County Commission discusses the future of their shared juvenile detention facility at this week’s meeting.

 

Montgomery County is threatening to withdraw from using the facility. Wilson County Coordinator Kris Marple says this development has delayed the county's budget.

 

Wilson County has faced this issue before. Previously, Linn County withdrew from the juvenile detention facility. Wilson made up the difference by recruiting counties as far as Butler, Sumner, and Cowley.

 

Marple believes that even if Montgomery County pulls out, the financial hardship would only be temporary.

 

In other business, Wilson County approved $22,000 for a contract with McCully and Associates for consulting services. They will assist the County appraiser with final estimates for county properties.
