Coffeyville Responds to Social Media Controversy

The City of Coffeyville issues a response to a recent social media controversy.

City Manager Ben Brubaker addressed the issue in a Facebook post. He spoke about questions raised by the public about the City's participation in the 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Brubaker says that by taking part in the program, the City has a part in how federal agents interact in the community.

Brubaker emphasizes that that decision is made by a federal authority, not the City of Coffeyville. He says the job of Coffeyville Police is to enforce local laws.

Brubaker also emphasizes the City's support for C-P-D.

The full version of Brubaker's statement can be seen on the City of Coffeyville Facebook page.
