Coffeyville residents show support to a local business owner while he remains in ICE custody.
Owner of El Charro Salvador Bermudez Herrera was arrested in Coffeyville last week following a traffic stop. According to his arrest record, Bermudez-Herrera was stopped for unlawful use of a turn signal and also had charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and illegal alien in possession of a firearm. He was detained by ICE and according to posts on social media is being held in a detention facility in Oklahoma.
After his arrest, support poured in on Facebook as well as other social media platforms and a protest was organized for this weekend. Several people attended the protest at the corner of 11th and Walnut Streets. A second event of support is planned for tomorrow at his restaurant.
