The City of Cherryvale celebrates its 155th birthday.
According to the Cherryvale Historical Museum, the City of Cherryvale was officially laid out by the L-L & G Railroad on May 3, 1871. Soon after, settlers began moving to the town including Jacob Blaes and Frank Steinberger. The Bender family also moved to the area and opened their infamous inn around the same time.
Other events of note in the early days of Cherryvale include the first hotel in the City, built in 1871 at 102 South Depot Street and the first school that was constructed in 1872 at the corner of 4th and Montgomery.
Happy birthday, Cherryvale!
