A 13-year-old Salina boy is in custody after leading police on a car chase in his mother’s car in the early morning hours on Friday.
According to Salina Police, an officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Marcella Drive in Salina. However, the boy did not comply and fled in the vehicle. During the pursuit, the teen lost control of the car and struck a pole. He then exited and car and continued to flee on foot. The boy was located and arrested soon after.
Police suspected the boy was intoxicated and transported him to Salina Regional Health Center for DUI testing and to have him medically cleared. Authorities say that while the boy was under treatment at the hospital, he remained uncooperative and struck a security guard.
The suspect was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City where he face a DUI charge.
