USD 461 – Neodesha selects a new District Superintendent.
The Neodesha School Board held a special meeting on Friday night and selected Rusty Arnold to be the next Superintendent of the Neodesha Schools. Arnold is a graduate of Neodesha High School and has been working as the NHS Principal for the past year. He also brings a wealth of experience in the Superintendent role, after having served as Superintendent in both Sedan and Independence.
The move comes following the announced retirement of Juanita Erickson last week. Erickson served as Superintendent for the past nine years. She leaves a lasting impact on Neodesha schools, including the the initiation of the Neodesha Promise Scholarship Program, leading the district through the Covid pandemic, and the development and opening of the Neodesha Early Learning Center.
President of the USD 461 School Board Kelly Birk stated that the Board of Education will be working closely with both Arnold and Erickson over the next few weeks as the district makes the transition. Arnold will officially begin his tenure as Superintendent on July 1st.
