The Cherryvale Police Department responds to a reported statewide threat involving school facilities .

Just before 1:30pm this afternoon, out of caution, officers were deployed to all school buildings in Cherryvale, and USD 447 schools were placed on alert status. During that time, students and staff were secured inside buildings as safety protocols were followed.

Cherryvale PD says there is no confirmed or credible threat directed specifically at USD 447. After assessing the situation and coordinating with other agencies, the alert was lifted and normal school operations resumed. Cherryvale PD says they take all threats to school safety seriously and appreciate the cooperation of school personnel and the community.
