The City of Independence presents its plans for the annexation of the old soccer fields on Peter Pan Road to the County.
City Manager Kelly Passauer and Montgomery County Action Council President and Economic Advisory Board member Chuck Goad addressed the Montgomery County Commission at this week's meeting regarding the proposed annexation. Passauer says the City wants to give the County notice of the annexation plans.
The City will gather information from the four owners of property bordering the open field to get their feedback on annexation. Chuck Goad says the city wants to work with the property owners and the county for the good of the community.
The three County Commissioners seemed agreeable to the City's plan, though no action was taken. The Independence City Commission will vote on a resolution for the issue at its May 14th meeting. If approved, the resolution will then go to the County according to state statute, which provides for a 30-day period for the County Commission to consider the issue before voting whether to approve or deny the annexation.
