The USD 461 Neodesha Schools Superintendent announces her retirement.
Neodesha Superintendent Juanita Erickson made the announcement in a letter to district families on Tuesday. Erickson has served in her current position for nine years. She came to Neodesha in 2017 after a tenure as General Director of Elementary Education for the Topeka Unified School District 501. Erickson began her career in 1989 as an elementary teacher in Salina and spent 11 years as a principal in that district before moving to Topeka. She is the first female superintendent in USD 461 history.
Erickson has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Marymount College in Salina and a Master's in Educational Administration and Leadership from Kansas State.
Erickson stated that, in the coming weeks, the USD 461 Board of Education will share more information about plans and details regarding the hiring process for the next superintendent.
She will step down as Neodesha Superintendent effective July 1.
