The National Weather Service has determined that two tornadoes impacted the Sycamore area on Sunday.
After completing their damage assessment on Monday, meteorologists from the Wichita Office of the National Weather Service say the first tornado was an EF1 with peak winds around 90 mph. It started just west of Sycamore and tracked to the southeast between 6:55 and 7:13, with a length of just over 5 miles and a max width of 30 yards. This tornado damaged farm outbuildings, including small grain bins, but did not cause any injuries.
The second tornado was an EF-2 with max wind speeds of 125 mph. The tornado began southwest of Sycamore and tracked to the east along 5800 Road, causing damage to two houses east of the Verdigris River and north of 5800 between 7:09 and 7:23. The path length was just over 4.5 miles with a max width of 400 yards. One occupant of one of the homes was injured.
