MG Co. Commission Approves Search for Firm for Comprehensive Plan

The Montgomery County Commission is moving forward with a new County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Regulations.

At this week’s meeting commissioners approved a Request for Proposal or R-F-P to allow the county to find a consulting firm that will take the lead in drawing up rules and regulations. That plan may include new county-wide zoning regulations. County Administrator Jonathan Booe says the purpose of zoning would be to protect the county’s farmers and ranchers.

This is a preliminary step in a process that could lead to zoning. Commissioner Robert Bever says he wants the process to be transparent for the public.

Commissioners have already received some feedback from the public on the issue. Commissioner Phil Clubine says they want input from county residents.
