Corn planting has started in Kansas.

That's according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, which reports that 2% of corn has been planted in the state. Winter wheat continues along with southeast Kansas, leading the state at 34% jointed. Winter wheat condition is rated at 40% good or excellent, 38% fair and 22% poor or very poor.
