The Independence Historical Museum and Art Center is hosting its annual Young Artists exhibit starting this week.

 

Independence Chamber President Lisa Wilson says residents will be able to enjoy work done by local students at the museum in downtown Independence.

 

Art from students will be on exhibit from several categories including drawings, paintings, ceramics and sculptures, as well as other forms of art including jewelry. Exhibitors will compete for prizes 1st through 3rd place and honorable mention, plus Best in Show and a People’s Choice Award.

 

The Young Artists Show opens on Wednesday. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 15 through 18. Museum members, kids under 15 and veterans get in free. The Independence Historical Museum and Art Center is located at 123 North 8th Street.
