The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a resurfacing project on two highways in northern Bourbon County starting on Monday.
The project will be conducted in two phases. To begin, milling and patching will start on K-31 at the US-69 junction and continue west toward Mapleton, where the activity will follow K-65 to the junction of K-3. In the next phase, the contractor will add an asphalt overlay starting at K-3 and will work east toward US-69. The work will cover about 23 miles of highway in all.
A pilot car will guide travelers through the work zone, which could be up to three miles long as work progresses. Travelers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
The three projects are expected to be complete in late July, conditions permitting.
The primary contractor on the $3.7 million project is Pearson Construction of Wichita.
