IHS Students Experience Hands-On Learning at Career Fair

Students at Independence High School get the opportunity to experience real-life learning in a school setting.

On Wednesday, community members from across the area were at IHS to give students some insight into future careers and professions. The IHS career fair brought together representatives from different industries and educational institutions who provided information, answered questions, and sometimes offered some interactive demonstrations.

Members of the Independence Fire and EMS Department were at the fair and gave students a real-life look at some of their jobs. Firefighters and EMS personnel gave demonstrations on vehicle extraction techniques and also showed students how they extinguish vehicle fires.

Career fairs help students explore potential career paths, understand the education or skills required for different jobs, and begin building connections that may be useful in the future. They are especially valuable for students who are undecided about their plans, as they offer a convenient way to compare options and gain insight into real-world opportunities in a single setting.
