Kansas Forest Service Continues to Battle Wildfires Across State

The Kansas Forest Service continues to battle wildfires across the state as unseasonably warm weather continues.

The K-F-S and other state crews continued to fight the Gray Fire in Butler County, northeast of Beaumont. Forward progress on that blaze was stopped around 6pm on Saturday evening as crews continued to work into the night to extinguish hot spots.

Progress was also made on a large wildfire in northeast Kansas, near the Nebraska line. Crews in Marshal County used multiple water drops to slow the spread of the blaze and continue to monitor the area to prevent the fire from rekindling.

All Kansans are reminded to follow local laws and regulations with regards to burning this spring and to avoid any action that could accidentally spark a fire.
