KHP Reports Significant Drop in Crash Deaths in 2026

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that there has been a significant drop in traffic fatalities so far in 2026.

According to K-H-P, preliminary statistics indicate there have been 49 deaths in traffic accidents and Kansas highways so far in 2026. That number is a nearly 33% drop from this time in 2025.

The K-H-P and the Kansas Department of Transportation reminds drivers to take actions that can help avoid accidents. Those actions include avoiding distractions and following the posted speed limit. Drivers should also wear seatbelts and never drive while impaired.

Kansas Drive To Zero is a statewide multi-organization initiative that aims to eliminate fatal and serious injury crashes on all public roads in Kansas. It leverages resources across hundreds of organizations to influence traffic safety through education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency response.
