A former KGGF announcer has passed away.
Gary D. Bailey passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2026, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, surrounded by family at the age of 74.
Bailey worked on a program while in high school to become an announcer at KRAI Radio in Craig, Colorado. Gary joined the workforce immediately as a radio newscaster, sportscaster, and DJ in Winfield, Kansas.
In 1975, Bailey joined KGGF Radio in Coffeyville where he not only served as a morning news anchor but also became widely known as the voice of the Coffeyville Red Ravens until 1991.
He later worked in Independence, Kansas, as the play-by-play announcer for the ICC Pirates.
During his time in radio, Bailey also called play-by-play for area high school sports, including the Field Kindley High School Golden Tornado and the Independence High School Bulldogs. He ultimately retired in 2015 after serving eight years as the deputy court clerk in Montgomery County, Kansas.
Bailey was an avid reader and library patron from an early age and served on the Board of Trustees at the Coffeyville Public Library from 2012 to 2020, including three years as board president.
The family will hold a private memorial dinner to celebrate his life, share stories, and reflect on cherished memories. Bailey requested that all memorials in his name be made to the Coffeyville Public Library.
