A suspect, who brought a rifle onto the campus of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, is located and taken into custody.
According to the Bartlesville Police Department, officers identified and located a vehicle connected to the incident shortly after 1:00pm this afternoon. Officers made contact with 18-year-old Drakelyn Cluen, who was arrested on a warrant for unlawfully carrying a firearm in certain places. The firearm was also recovered. Police say the incident began earlier in the day, when officers were called just after 11:00am about somone displaying a rifle on campus. Investigators determined the individual arrived around 10:40am, removed a rifle from the trunk of a vehicle, and placed it on the hood before taking photographs near the university’s Eagle statue. The firearm was then returned to the vehicle, and the suspect left campus.
Oklahoma Wesleyan University was placed on a brief lockdown while officers responded and cleared the area. Deputy Chief Troy Newell praised the response, saying the quick resolution reflects the coordination and professionalism of officers, with safety remaining the top priority. Cluen had been booked into the Washington County Jail last week on misdemeanor charges including DUI, carrying a firearm while under the influence and transporting an open container. He later posted bond in that case. The investigation remains ongoing.
