The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident involving a two-year-old.

Just before 6:00pm Monday, dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a child had been backed over by a truck on a farm northwest of Elsmore. The child’s parents began driving toward the hospital while remaining on the line with emergency dispatch.

First responders met the family about three miles east of Humboldt, where the child was transferred to an ambulance and taken to Allen County Regional Hospital. She was later airlifted to Children’s Mercy Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Authorities say no foul play is suspected, and the incident appears to be a farm accident.
