A former Bonner Springs police detective is arrested following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The KBI says 39-year-old Kyle Rector of Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested this afternoon. Investigators say the case began in late January when Bonner Springs Police requested assistance. They said Rector used department resources while on duty to monitor and stalk his spouse. His employment had already been terminated. During the investigation, authorities also reported discovering child sexual abuse material.
Rector faces multiple charges, including stalking, breach of privacy, sexual exploitation of a child, unlawful computer acts and official misconduct. He was booked into the Wyandotte County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the KBI.
