A small bar in Cherokee, Kansas, hits a legal road bump as its owner attempt to sell the business.
The Idle-A-While Bar and Grill has been in operation since 1935, but closed recently as the owners attempted to sell it. The bar is located near a church but had been grandfathered in to allow it to continue in business. However, a recent closure caused the bar to lose its license, eliminating the grandfather clause.
The owners of the bar say that the church has been trying to buy the property at 50% of the asking price and that there has been no legal violation that would cause the business to lose its license. Church leaders say the offer was made long before the City made any decisions on licensing.
