Osage County Deputies Arrest Man for Copper Theft in Sand Springs

 

One man is in custody following the theft of copper wiring in Sand Springs.

 

Deputies from the Osage County Sheriff's Office responded on Friday afternoon to reports of the theft of copper wire in progress. Authorities arrived on the scene near north State highway 10 to find two men. Both suspects fled into the nearby woods.

 

Deputies were able to locate one of the suspects, identified as 66-year-old Davey Cornelius. Cornelius was arrested and taken to the Osage County Jail in Pawhuska where he faces a felony charge of entering a structure with the intent of stealing copper. 

 

Police are still looking for the second suspect in the case. That individual is described as a white male in his 20s. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white sweatshirt and shorts.
