Montgomery County is now under an official burn ban.

 

Effective immediately, all outdoor burning is prohibited. This includes brush piles, land clearing, open campfires, burn barrels, and any other open flame burning not specifically authorized. The burn ban applies to all of Montgomery County and willful violations of the ban will constitute a Class A misdemeanor.

 

The burn ban was issued due to the recent dry, windy conditions that are likely to cause any fire to quickly spread out of control. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any signs of smoke or uncontrolled fire immediately by calling 9-1-1.

 

The ban will remain in effect until Saturday night at 9pm.
