Changes at the state level for graduation requirements has Nowata High School making some changes of their own.

One of the changes is a requirement for math and how it will be taught. Nowata High School Principal Deedee Hewitt says the decisions the high school makes trickles all the way down.  Nowata Counselor Bridgette Smith says what the state will require to graduate.

Smith says the state's model uses eight pathways at minimum, giving a high school student the opportunity to find their career path before they graduate.
