Arrest Made in Allen County Shooting Investigation

A Humboldt man is arrested following a shooting investigation in Allen County.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Humboldt Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide that happened this weekend in Humboldt. Investigators say a woman fled a home during a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, 25-year-old Malachi Davis and sought help from a neighbor. The neighbor contacted another man, 43-year-old John Kent, who then became involved in a verbal altercation with Davis.

Authorities say Davis fired a single shot from his vehicle, striking Kent, who was taken to Allen County Regional Hospital where he later died. Davis fled but was located by the Kansas Highway Patrol near La Harpe and taken into custody. He is jailed on a charge of second-degree murder.
