A Coyville man is arrested following a weekend homicide investigation in Wilson County.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office say deputies were dispatched to a home in the 2100 block of 2nd Street in Coyville after a report of gunfire. When deputies arrived, they found 37-year-old Lucas R. Pickell of Fredonia outside an RV on the property with a gunshot wound. Pickell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Pickell had been inside the RV with three other people prior to the shooting. During an incident, 52-year-old William Wescott is suspected of shooting Pickell. Wescott was arrested at the scene and booked into the Wilson County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder. The KBI says the investigation remains ongoing.
